REARDON SENDS STRONG MESSAGE TO SESSUMS AND OXFORD POLICE DEPT IN THIS YOUTUBE VIDEO

Oxford, Mississippi – What happens when a police captain turns his badge into a weapon and uses government infrastructure to stalk, conduct illegal surveillance, and defame a journalist across state lines? You get the case of Captain Hildon Sessums—a disgrace in uniform and a walking constitutional violation.

On February 5, 2025, Captain Sessums, a high-ranking officer with the Oxford Police Department, used his official email account to send a smear-laced message targeting journalist and constitutional rights activist Matthew Reardon. The email wasn’t a lawful warning, nor was it part of an investigation. It was a retaliatory act—a political hit job masquerading as inter-agency communication.

Sessums’ target? A First Amendment auditor who had lawfully recorded a public location in Layton, Utah. A journalist who dared to point a camera at power and exercise his rights.

His weapon? A badge, a keyboard, and unrestricted access to law enforcement databases.

The result? A chilling abuse of power.

Doxed by Government Surveillance

What sets this apart from a routine abuse of discretion is the level of precision involved. The address included in Sessums’ email wasn’t public. In fact, Reardon had only been living at his new Layton, Utah address for not even four days. He hadn’t filed a lease. He hadn’t changed his mailing info. He hadn’t submitted it to any agency or utility.

Yet somehow, Sessums had it. And he shared it freely.

That email, dripping with defamatory language and personal bias, labeled Reardon a “persistent issue” and went on to highlight decades-old charges as if they were active threats. The timing wasn’t coincidental—it was retaliation.

The Domino Effect: Layton Police Department Joins the Pile-On

Sessums’ email didn’t just stay in a file. It sparked a domino effect.

Shortly after receiving it, Lieutenant Riley Richins of the Layton Police Department blasted Reardon’s private information to approximately 100 Law Enforcement officers. The mass email included his full name, date of birth, private address, and a deceptive narrative claiming he was charged and convicted of Stalking the Oxford Mayor in 2017—something even court records don’t support.

This is more than a communications breakdown. It’s an orchestrated character assassination—fueled by illegal surveillance, jurisdictional overreach, and a total disregard for constitutional protections.

Fighting Back: Complaints Filed, Receipts Loaded

Reardon isn’t backing down. He’s going scorched earth—filing formal complaints with:

• The U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division

• The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)

• The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF)

• The Mississippi Ethics Commission

• The Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) board

Each complaint is loaded with documentation, screenshots, and legal firepower. Each submission is a demand for justice, accountability, and systemic change.

The Broader Pattern: Oxford Police Department & Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department

This isn’t a one-off scandal. Sessums’ actions mirror the broader culture of corruption that’s been festering in Lafayette County for years. The Oxford Police Department, like its counterpart the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, has turned public service into personal vendettas. They’ve weaponized surveillance tech, misused public databases, and targeted critics with chilling precision.

They don’t want accountability—they want silence. And they’re willing to break laws to get it.

This Is the Line in the Sand

What Sessums and his collaborators did wasn’t a mistake. It was deliberate. It was malicious. And now, it’s public.

“This video is my response—raw, unfiltered, and constitutionally protected. No threats. Just truth. This is what accountability sounds like when it’s pissed off and knows its rights.” said Matthew Reardon

“This isn’t just about one dirty cop. It’s about a system that protects itself at the expense of the people it swore to serve.”

If you’ve ever been harassed, surveilled, or silenced for using your voice—this fight is yours too.

Watch. Share. Remember the name:

Captain Hildon Sessums.
